Phase 1 Fundraising makes significant strides!

Hey everyone! Wanted to give an update on how phase 1 fundraising is coming along. So far we’ve managed to get 10 helmets from donations! Also thanks to a generous donation from Pete May, we will be fitting the donated helmets with integrated kydex back of the head protection which will complete that phase of gear procurement.

So far we’ve managed to raise about $1000 which is all going towards the jacket fund. I’ve managed to order 6 Spez Kaftan jackets in a variety of size codified colors meant to allow students to quickly identify which size is which. The other benefit is that when you put all of the jackets together it’ll form a rainbow! It will take a while for the jackets to arrive but once they do I’ll be sure to post more pictures.

• Purple and Yellow = Extra Large

• Blue and Orange = Large

• Green and Red = Medium

• Yellow and Purple = Small

• Orange and Blue = Extra Small

Thanks to MKDF, we were gifted a $500 gift certificate to Woodenswords.com! I’ve ordered 4 pairs of Spez Gloves and have another 4 coming in from Spez directly along with 6 padded swords. This when paired with the helmets will let new students spar with something more reminiscent of an actual sword in terms of weight safely!
