Blue Box 2022

On November 19th of 2022, Jacob Holfelder and I traveled up to Columbus Ohio for the Blue Box Open. This would be a weekend of firsts. Jacob is Hilt and Helm’s first ever Knight School Graduate and this would be their first ever HEMA tournament!

Saturday started off with Tier 1 Longsword where I had a couple of really scintillating fights. Although we weren’t able to get good footage of every fight, here are a couple of the highlights.

Chris Shelton vs. JW Pugnetti. This was the death of my longsword “The Rainbow Blade”!

The rainbow blade is blocking Oberhaus in Valhalla now.

After someone lent me a longsword, JW and I resumed our fight. Funny enough, he intentionally struck at my right hand knowing I was used to having a ring guard. He got me to!

Although I faired pretty well in the pools, I wound up getting knocked out of teh top 8 by Sam Ryals who would go on to take 2nd. More importantly, Jacob scored their first ever HEMA tournament win!
